The weather has been so unseasonably warm here in central Iowa this fall.  JusBaltimore Oriole 16 May 2011t a couple days ago I saw dragonflies, frogs, and a butterfly down at our pond and the temperatures were in the low 70’s.  Then the next day, the temperature dropped all through the day and bottomed out at about 33 degrees.  Yep, that’s Iowa weather.  Our “average” seasonal highs and lows sound pretty inviting, but it’s the ups and downs (sometimes occurring on the same day) that can get interesting!

We are still having fun making our up-cycled “tin head” characters for the garden, patio, or even indoors.  A small amount of bird seed can usually be placed either on the top or in the bottom.  If not, we just consider them ornamental art.  Here are a few of the latest; hope they make you smile:
